My Andy Warhol days....

I would sit for Andy Warhol in his studio. The noble-savage-mystique that I portrayed apeeled to him. Shown for the first time here in this blog is a photo he was going to use for 'The Velvet Underground.'

You don't know bananology Tom...I DO.

I think Scientology has gotten to Tom. On a recent episode of 'Oprah' he tried to kill me because I knew more about bananas than he did. But I DO!

Another one of my favourite Georges

Here's the Commander in Chief and I at Camp David. He made me Honourary Inspector of all banana imports into North America. Work is tough sometimes!

Pope Benedict XVI

Our Holiness is an animal lover - at once he had many cats. Here we are shortly after his installment. What a friendly man!

Monkeys in Buddhism

Monkeys are an important symbol in some religions including Buddhism. We are described as: calculating and intelligent, yet mischievous(hee, hee, hee), vain, and restless, akin to the human spirit and passions.
You can read a story about us here.

Frida Kahlo

The Mexican artist Frida Kahlo had a pet monkey. She even painted portraits of him. See for yourself(he's so handsome!).

Our Camping Trip in the Canadian Wilderness

We're used to the jungle environment but being as we're curious, we took an adventure North. Jurgen served as our navigator(look at him reading a map) and I drove. We saw many interesting animals and even got to travel by boat. We can't wait for next year!

King Kong

We were asked to provide some thoughts on Peter Jackson's film 'King Kong.' We strongly urge that all people see this film. There is something for everyone - adventure, drama, comedy, romance and bananas. Jack Black was great as his comic self. Naomi Watts showed the tender side we primates need to feel. The special effects were amazing. I even had to close my eyes at times. Even though Kong is a gorilla and we are monkeys, we think that this film will open people's minds and hearts to what we all feel.

Niagara Falls!

We met a cool guy who took Jurgen and I to Niagara Falls, Canada! We forgot our raincoats but that was OK; we needed a bath anyway! I can't believe how much water goes over the edge. All the international tourists recognized me. Some even treated us to tasty fudge - YUMMY!

St Patrick's Day!

I don't have any Irish blood in me but on March 17th, everyone is Irish!

Tree hugger

Nothing refreshes me more than a nice climb in a tree. This reminds me of the poem 'Birches' by my favourite poet Robert Frost:
....
So was I once myself a swinger of birches. And so I dream of going back to be.It's when I'm weary of considerations,And life is too much like a pathless woodWhere your face burns and tickles with the cobwebsBroken across it, and one eye is weepingFrom a twig's having lashed across it open.I'd like to get away from earth awhileAnd then come back to it and begin over.May no fate wilfully misunderstand meAnd half grant what I wish and snatch me awayNot to return. Earth's the right place for love:I don't know where it's likely to go better.I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree,And climb black branches up a snow-white trunkToward heaven, till the tree could bear no more,But dipped its top and set me down again. That would be good both going and coming back. One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.

Starbucks!

I like cool jazz, watching people mingle, enjoying a cappu and discussing art. What better place than at Starbucks!

My wilder days...

There was a time when I helped myself to firewater every now and then to take the edge off of things. Now I'm totally clean and enjoy banana shakes to give me the energy I need.

Our Patron Saint - St Francis of Assisi

He was always kind to all the creatures of nature. Here we are chumming around!

My time in Korea

So far I've been on 3 continents - my native Africa, North America and Asia in South Korea. The people there are very good. I was a celebrity everywhere I went. See for yourself!

Meet the Family

To the far left is Georgery, Clovis, Jorgito, Jurgen and me George(the original). Here we are enjoying a night out on the town. We went to see 'Curious George.' We were, of course, technical consultants for the film.
